Over this time I have had to replace front rim due to axle bearings exploding out within the firat week on flat city streets, causing me to walk home 2 miles with bike in upright position. A small wreck caused me to replace my back rim. So I upgraded my cassette while I was at it. Now the handle bars squeak and I'm on Amazon today trying to find new pedals, because they are grinding causing loud squeaks. I do ride this bike daily as exercise and transportation. Once I upgrade everything I'm sure I won't have anymore issues. I have put 100 miles on this bike and regardless of the issues its a nice ride. It has places to convert it to disc brakes. And its not too heavy. I lift it on to my bike carrier with easy. I am looking also into another seat. The one it comes with is super skinny. So with all this said. 50 bucks for rims. 30 dollar cassette. New 12 dollar anti puncture tube for front tire. About 40 dollars in accessories. 190 for bike... I'm an experienced rider and very savvy in assembling and working on them. I had to post this review because of my severe FRUSTRATION in the poor workmanship of this machine. Just to get the positives out of the way - this really is a nice looking bike. However, looks aside, this bike has a number of issues with it.For starters (defect number 1), it is shipped in a "women's" bicycle box per the printed description on the box in more than one place; indicating it's the ladies version of the high timber when it's in fact the men's version inside the box. The bike appears to have been jammed into the box with a hydraulic press because it takes the "jaws of life" to get it OUT of the possibly smaller-sized "women's" box. I just bought it for the occasional ride around the neighborhood and everything is great. Maybe if your looking for something more audacious and adventurous then you my have to get a higher priced model. Additionally, I have very little assembly skills and it took me about 2 hours to complete with infrequent help from my wife to hold it when assembling the front tire. All you need is some hex keys and pliers for the handlebars and back breaks. I don't know where all the complaints come from because it does come with slightly helpful instructions. It came double boxed from Fed Ex so it was in immaculate condition when it arrived in 3 days. |
